1st Day in Washington D.C. 10-23-14

Ah the comfort of sleeping (sleeping?) on a Luxury Charter bus. Actually the use of the words luxury bus is truly an oxymoron! The kids finally settled down about 2:30 this morning. They couldn't believe I was waking them at 5:30! I warned them fair and square each time I suggested they go to sleep! Finally I told them we were not having any more fun until 5:30! I was true to my word! That's when today's fun began. :-)

Traffic was horrible today! It took us forever to get anywhere this morning even at 6:00 am. Bumper to bumper traffic. We were a little late to breakfast but got caught up just fine.

Spent the day touring the FDR Memorial, Martin Luther King's Memorial, and the Washington Cathedral, visited Daniel's Story at the Holocaust Museum, went to the Smithsonian Museums (Natural History and American history), bought some souvenirs, and finally made it to the hotel. Whew! Everyone's tucked in safely (I'm sure they're not all sleeping but some are) and getting ready for another big day tomorrow. By the way, we walked 5.87 miles today and they swam in the pool! They'll be asleep soon!
